The 2020’s project has produced gender disaggregated data of Indonesian Film Industry and a series of action plans to be followed up by selected stakeholders. The 2021’s project aims at following up two points in the action plans to develop and support GESI (Gender and Social Inclusive) responsive film education and filmmaking. The latter project is now at the stage of completing the publication of a GESI responsive film higher education curriculum guideline and a training syllabus on GESI responsive filmmaking for film communities.

Book launch of gender-disaggregated data collection research

Sazkia Noor Anggraini, S.Sn., M.Sn from the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta as the lead resercher will present key findings related to the number of women in the Indonesian film industry, film schools, film festivals, and film professional associations. The book also comes with a recommendation of action plans that can be implemented by film stakeholders and key actors. The research book entitled “Towards Gender Equality of Indonesian Cinema: Gender-Disaggregated Data Analysis and Recommendation of Action Plans” will be digitally accessible and downloaded freely through here.

Talk show “Gender Responsive and Socially Inclusive Film Curriculum and Training”

This talk show will discuss Gender Responsive and Socially Inclusive (GESI) curriculum guidelines targeting film and television programs in universities and GESI responsive training modules targeting the film community and professionals to achieve a gender-sensitive and inclusive film environment. Expert Team Leader, Dr. Evi Eliyanah, an expert in Gender Studies and Cultural Studies from Malang State University and Panji Wibowo, a filmmaker and film educator, will share the goals and structure of the curriculum guideline and training modules they have written. The talk show aims to raise awareness of gender perspectives and social inclusion towards equality in Indonesian cinema both in campus and professional settings. We expect in the following year, film schools, film communities, and targeted film professionals will be guided to adopt GESI responsive curriculum guidelines and training modules through multiple pilots and workshops. This talk show also invites relevant stakeholders and the public who are concerned with the issue of equality in Indonesian cinema.
